I have extensive experience of depression, it's followed me around all my life.

Depression is a chemical imbalance. Thy symptoms may be what you describe, but the inability to just shrug them off is a different matter

I agree, I've never said different.
But depression is "feeling sorry for yourself" It goes without saying that it's an extreme condition and people who suffer it can't "just snap out of it".
Millions of people get depressed, but thankfully it's rare for someone to do what this pr*ck did. That's what makes him such a selfish pr*ck, not that he got depressed in the first place, that can happen to anyone.
