Hi

PLEASE NOTE: Apologies, I'm a newbie and posted this in the wrong section, but I can't work how to delete it so I've posted it again in another section. Will try to get this one deleted as soon as I find out how...

I'm trying to fit a new toilet seat but I'm having trouble removing the old one as the screws attaching it to the toilet itself won't come loose, even with an electric screwdriver. I've tried leaving WD40 on both the screws and the wing nuts underneath but they still won't budge.

I just took this picture of the wing nut under the toilet - it seems fairly rusted up to me - is there any kind of tool I could use to loosen it?

Many thanks for your help.

hi dan
sorry there is no easy way to do this. As you've already soaked them in wd40 then you'll have to cut the nut with with a hacksaw or just keep twisting the nut with grips.

You can destroy the top at the seat which should give enough room to get a junior hacksaw under to cut off.
Or a piece of pipe cut at top to form a slot wide enough to span locking nut and a hole thru other end to put a bar thru will give extra purchase.I used a piece of ali tube to make one.
