Hi,

I've recently had this fan installed and I'm very confused to how it works. I think it has a humidity sensor and there is a timer on there as well.

The electrian has set the timer but they said there's no numbers on the timer, so they don't know how long it's set for. So far I've counted 20 minutes.

After the light and fan go off (20 minutes), when I turn the light on the fan doesn't come on. I assume it's because the fan thinks there is nothing in the air?

Yet when I flushed the toilet, the fan stayed on to 20 minutes. So does that mean the timer is set to 20 minutes?

I'm confused to how the fan is working, for a shower I understand the fan staying on for 20 minutes, if that's what it's set to. But for flushing the toilet, it doesn't make sense for it to stay on for 20 minutes?

Also the electrian said even if the light is off the fan could come on? It's very hard for me to work out what's going on... As soon as the fan turns off after the 20 minute mark, when I turn the light on, the fan just doesn't come on.

Please can someone help me with this.

Is it the ST100HT model?

Have you got the box or the instructions?

20 minutes is usually the maximum time so presumably set to maximum/

It should.

No. The humidistat is separate from the switch.

I would say yes.

The fan cannot tell whether you have just had a pee.

Also the electrian said even if the light is off the fan could come on?
Yes, if the humidity is high enough.

For how long?
The way you have written it, the fan would have only worked once and then never come on again.

Please can someone help me with this.
Turn the timer down to minimum and humidistat up to maximum and try it.

The fan should always come on when you switch the light on.

Get the installer back to sort it out.

Sorry, what do you think is happening with the fan? Whenever I turn the light on, the fan doesn't automatically come on... Are you saying it should?

Assuming the installer has wired it normally then yes it should.

What happens if, when the light goes on, the fan doesn't come on, but when the toilet flushes, it comes on and stays on for 20 minutes?

What would this mean?

It will not be connected to the toilet flush.

Some fans have a delay after the lights come on and before the fan starts so you can pop in and out of the bathroom without the fan coming on.

And yteh manual image suggests it has a humidity sensor so may come on at any time it gets humid.

When the humidity is high enough - IF it is a humidity model.

You have the manual.

See that's the thing, the manual doesn't really say so I don't know. I was wondering if anyone on here knew?

If you post a pic of the insides, wemsy be able to decipher it.
