How Good Is Your Spelling

Every Friday at primary school my 11 year old daughter gets a 10 word spelling test. This week the words were:
concentrate...............................condemn
conjure.....................................conscience
conscientious.............................conscious
consistent..................................conspiracy
contemporary............................correspondence

A challenge! Let your partner, wife, friend or indeed anybody have a go at this spelling list. Remember, my 11 year old daughter and 4 of her classmates got 10/10 and another 5 got 9/10. How well will they do? Tried it out yesterday on 15 year olds and the results were more or less the same as the kids in my daughters class.

PS Don't tell anyone but the girls really did fare better than the boys.

PPS Before anyone suggests it, the kids didn't ask me to write the words up on the board.

do you really care?

Did I? The memory is going. Where did I write that? :?: :?: :?:

In the opening post!

Are you trying to confuse me not665 :?: I couldn't remember saying "do you really care" but as you correctly pointed out, I did in my opening post. I thought that, "Did I? The memory is going. Where did I write that?" was written by me, but clearly it was not. Do you think that this might be the very first signs of senility?

My spelling is also not good, in the office my all spellings shuold be checked but for chating i don't prefer it.

Hey Paper Spark - That was amazing. What surprised me was how easily I could read that jumble.
If that was not a real Cambridge University Research program it should be.
It explains my childrens ability to read at a very young age. My youngest was reading fairly fluently at 2 years of age and that was achieved using flash cards. He would read long words such as television or congratulations with ease. I was told that the young child recognised the shape of the word rather than reading it. I think we adults do the same with really thinking about it. Confirming your theory.
