How many RichA's does it take to change a lightbulb? Help.

Struggling to work out how to remove this kitchen cabinet bulb.

New house - so I have never encountered these lamps before and I don't want to force it.

Appreciate some help with technique.

With GREAT care, and a little thin screwdriver, lever out the chrome frame surrounding the frosted glass.

It's best to go round and lever a little in several places, rather like you would with a tin of paint.

Go very gently.

Place your other hand underneath, as they can pop out unexpectedly, plus the glass is not fixed to the surround, so they can part company.

The lamps are capsule lamps and the fitting (when you've taken off the cover) should have the rating on it.

Either 10W or 20W, but be careful not to overload the transformer.

EDIT:

On second glance, I'm not 100% they are that type.

If you look on the other side of the panel into which they are mounted, can you see the fitting?

If you can take some further pics of that or wiring or transfomer (if visible and fitted) then we should be able to ID it.

What bulb would you recommend? 10w or 20w?

Pictures of bulb & transformer. There are 4 lamps off this transformer.

Must be 10w, as that is a max. 50w transformer. 4 x 20w would overload it.

Yup, 10W it is.

OOI, does it say on the lamp?

These fittings have lampholders that can go faulty - you think the lamp has gone, but sometimes there is a loose connection in the fitting/ lampholder and if you waggle the lamp a bit, it comes on.

It will have to be 10W but that inverter is not designed for use with 4 x 10W lamps as it says 20W - 50W and if three lamps were to blow it would be under loaded.

You must always have 2 bulbs working do not use if only one lamp working.

When you put the new bulb in

Hold it in a piece of tissue paper. do not touch it with your bare hands as any grease will fry on the lamp, greatly reducing its, already short, life.
