How much bearing for rsj

How much bearing does a 2.8m rsj need on each side? its for a second storey side extension. The house is a typical 3bed semi with a Nine inch on the original house wall and a brick/block (agalite) cavity on the party wall.

Its to support a second storey extension made from brick + blocks

I have seen a second storey extension on my road thats built off rsj's. It doest seem to have any piers as the new party wall is flush.
My house is basically the same design as his and was wondering if i too would be ok with not having a pier.

Thankyou for the reply, I'm not building it yet hence haven't had any calc's done.

I may build this in a year or two so trying to arm my self with some options.
From what i've described would it be out of the ordinary to have a steel sitting on a single block inner wall (thats the inner block of cavity wall)?

You can normally sit these on 100mm bearings for domestic work
