Did my first day today and didn't stop from 8 o'clock till 4 o'clock scratch coated a bungalow/ extension (including putting beads on) thought I would be aching now but feel ok and ready for a lie in the bath.. Surprised myself. Couldn't keep up with the lad I part trained many years ago before he went to a plastering company and fully learned his trade. He is now my boss !!!! Happy days...

Just goes to show, If someone is instructed correctly right from the start, that start up instruction sticks, and the better it grows

Well finished the job off today , will try and get some photos up of it finished. Believe it or not I haven't got any aches and pains. Looking at another job tomorrow. Enjoyed every minute of it..

Well today we were skimming a bathroom out and tomorrow are skimming a kitchen ceiling, then waiting for the coving to be made then back on the bathroom job. I have always said that if you are not working before Christmas then the jobs will slowly come in when people get their first wage packets in the new year, I have now got a purpose in life and I think that is what everyone needs!!

I cannot agree more with this sentiment, if someone is fit enough and willing to continue in doing something that they really, really are [A] trained for and want to continue to do, in any shall I call it, vocation after all that is what we are typing about here?, I firmly believe that the mental benefits are astronomical as far as the participant is concerned, and being a Scot there may be pecuniary advantages associated??

OK I will come clean here, I am 70 Years old [you can tell bey the typos I generate] I am still working away, not undertaking physically demanding work such as you are brave enough to undertake, my work is on a freelance basis but acting as a Surveyor visiting properties, diagnosing defects and problems, nothing like as physically demanding as your present situation, i take my hat off to a grafter who has the ability and desire to undertake your work load.

Well today we started another job skimming a living room and a front porch. They guy had plaster boarded some of the walls and "Blue gritted some of the others. He also blue gritted the ceiling which is about 4 metres by 7 metres which we are doing tomorrow first, then finishing the rest of the walls that we hope he has gritted. "Happy Days"...( You want to see the muscles in my arms developing.) Again!!!!

I'm not a plasterer but a good read in this section and glad it's worked out for you.

When I was doing my apprenticeship years ago one of the directors was in his eighties and still working.

I read a book that was an analysis of why the twin towers collapsed and how something as simple as turning right or left was the difference between life and death.

I found this interesting a lot of the maintenance and employed inspectors for the towers were in their seventies, the book just mentioned their names and ages in passing, I picked up on the age thing ...It wasn't a point in the book.
One more thing the people that took control and got people out were blue collar workers not high flying execs. ........they put it down to the problem solving nature of the blue collar chaps work experiance.
