How thick should render be for tiling?

Don't know why that link errors, works ok here - just imagine a shiny British Gypsum brochure!
Works OK now; I was using my old PC with an early browser before so that’s probably why. New rig now fully loaded & up to speed in more ways than one; fantastic.

Good luck & come back if your not sure of anything. ;)

Thought I'd reuse this topic.

What through/frame fixings should I use/not use?

Had a quick look and found these options:
Frame fixing - 80mm

Hammer fixing - 80mm

Fixing screw - 82mm

I'm thinking the hammer fixings

Edit: I'm fixing to brick work

Do I put a fixing through each dab?

Assuming 250mm centres that's approx 5x3 fixings, 15 per board

The adhesive dabs should be regarded as a temporary fix to hold the board in place before you provide a mechanical fixings; it’s these that ultimately hold the backer board on the wall & will be taking the weight of both the backer board & tiles. Installation instructions of different boards vary but you must fix through the adhesive dabs after they are fully set (I leave till next day) or you will distort & even crack cement based boards when you tighten the fixing.
