Im planning to build a raised deck platform but the a couple of the support posts will need to be concreted into a shallow stream, - anyone know the best way of doing this?

I was going to use treated 100x100x2.4m posts but am not sure of the best way to concrete them in, e.g. do i need any kind of metal supports or casing around the wood to stop it rotting etc or should I be using something completely different?

Also what would be the best way to dig the hole without it filling with water?

Thanks

A word of caution Lee.

You cannot go fixing things into streams, or changing its environment without first seeking and obtaining the approval of the National Rivers Authority. Otherwise they will prosecute you, even if you have improved the environment, rather than harmed it - I HAVE KNOWN THIS TO HAPPEN TO A FRIEND!!

Aye you should be cantilevering the edge of your deck not digging bloody great holes in a stream bed!
