I appreciate it's an odd one.....

Back in the 70's, I installed the electrics for a pumping station. It was quite an expensive project, four massive pumps, and an 10 foot diameter Archimedes screw lift pump. Unlike some, it wasn't a prestige show project, it was just bare concrete, a big hole, and a very large girder 'shed' type building, with a travelling crane. Just one of the many I worked on, during that time. I recently tried to find the place on Google Earth, but failed, because the whole area is so very different now, and there are lots of similar shed building around that area, plus my memory is quite vague on the location. It was within sight I think, of the transporter bridge, near the river, and was in the Stockton/Middleborough area. I searched on google for a list of pumping station in the area, but that doesn't find any but the show locations.

Reminds me of that film 'Lion' on Netflix.

Some utilities sites, telephone exchanges etc are removed from public searches since some bombing attacks in the 1970's.

Was that the 1870's...

what utility /company or society was it built for ??
that should be where you research is aimed at or there successors who took over there assets
finding on a publicly available source assumes the assets are made public??

Not Tees Cottage?
The old steamy part was closed in the 80's.
