wear ear defenders, i am not joking, or just be quick at doing it, reading the instructions also helps

thanks breezer...my reason8 will be connected to accenta mini, i read instruction and all, but still not sure..if i will enable battery supply on bellbox and set it to 20 minutes, will it go mad for 20 minutes when i connect it to pannel? or will shut up as soon as i enter my code? cheers

I connect the Reason8 bellbox to the panel (near the panel):

If I change the timer from “Test” to “20 minutes”, and then trigger an alarm, will the bellbox go mad for 20 minutes, or will it shut up as soon as I enter the user code? (I’m scared)

If I enable the battery link on the Bellbox, and change the timer to 20 minutes, then connect all wires to it and close it. Will it go ballistic when I connect it to the control panel?

CAN SOMEBODY TELL ME HOW THEY’VE INSTALLED A REASON8 BELLBOX RECENTLY

I am dreading this cos I am not a pro, I learnt everything about alarms from you guys (I think I’m doing well)

Thank you for your help

neither

set the link to test, with it wired at the panel end, connect it to bell box. go back down ladder and get the front cover, back up ladder change link to 20 mins, put cover on,tighten its fixings it should stop as soon as you put the cover on.

Thanks again Breezer,

how about the "enable battery link" on the Bellbox? do i enable it just before closing the cover on the bellbox? coz doing so near during tests (near the control panel) the sounder was driving me insane.

from what i understand, these are the steps to follow:

1) wire bellbox at control pannel
2) wire to bellbox
3) put link to 20 minutes
4) alarm goes ballistic
5) put cover on bellbox, and alarm shuts up

-- do i need to have power down before proceeding with step 1 and 2?
-- when is the best time to enable battery link? (compared to the numbered steps above)

best regards

powered up at all times (just dont cut through the whole cable)

4a connect battery link

cheers mate,

one more question, you know when timer on bellbox is set to 20 minutes, does this mean, if an alarm is triggered it will go for 20 minutes, even if the user code is entered after say 1 or 2 minutes?

i will practice near the control panel the connection process, maybe this wednesday, if not in 2 weeks as i'm off for the paris marathon, and a little tour de france, i really wanted this project done before, but wot a busy life?

thanks a lot for your input

no, that link came about because of westminster city council.

(where they lead others follow)

originaly a bell never stopped, then 20 mins was brought in, then it was noticed that the bell had a battery in and if there was a powercut the panel battery went flat the bells would ring and ring and ring, now imagine a whole street this happened to, powercut for say 10 hours (batteries only to last for:cool: you get loads of bells ringing no one can do anything about, so the council said they want the timer in the bell, so it will always stop

i`ve got a battery in my panel, will it stop the bell ringing if i have a mains failure? and if say i come home and take longer than expected to put my user code, and timer is set to 20 minutes, will it still ring for 20 min, or stop when i put my code? thanks

I know you have a battery, but its only g teed to last for 8 hours, new regs now say 24 hours on new alarms, but you need not worry about that.

provided you enter the corect code within the entry time the bell will not ring, if you exceed the entry time or deviaste from the entry route the bell will ring untill the correct code is entered or 20 minutes which ever is the sooner (the code i would hope)

Hello friends,

My panel is accenta mini, with an LCD remote keypad

I am trying to finalize installation of my alarm system; this is what I have done so far:

1. On the panel the bell link is on to avoid tamper (Reason8 Bellbox not connected yet)
2. Installed all contacts and PIR’s OK
3. Test walk is fine

When I tried to connect Reason8 Bellbox (using a short length cable near the control panel), this is what I’ve done:

1. Panel is disconnected from mains, and is fed using the battery
2. I unplug the battery lead, so that there’s no current in the panel
3. Reason8 Bellbox is sat on its back so that it thinks it’s fixed to a wall (spring on the back is pressed)
4. Reason8 Bellbox timer is on 20 minutes, battery link is off
5. On the Reason8 Bellbox I connect all the leads correctly as mentioned in the instructions
6. I close the Reason8 Bellbox with the supplied screw
7. I connect all the Reason8 Bellbox leads correctly at the panel as mentioned in the instruction
8. I put my finger on the panel spring (tamper thingy, I think) to make it think the cover is on
9. I connect the battery leads to feed the panel
10. Then the alarm starts screaming
11. The remote Keypad light comes on and displays the version of the system
12. I put my code, alarm carries on screaming, and panel shows “system unset”
13. But the alarm carries on screaming
14. I unplug the battery leads to stop the horrible Bellbox sound
15. I feel like an idiot, but I don’t know what am I doing wrong

Please help me, this is driving me insane, I must be doing something wrong, because common sense says alarm should stop as soon as I put my code

I will be extremely grateful for any input

Thanks

Hi

With reference to your Reason8 bell box, where did you purchase it.

I bought mine from Screwfix and had a similar problem, caused me a lot of fault finding before I concluded it was the box that was faulty, as was the second one.

The third box was ok.
