We have a Hailo swing out bin.
The lid got broke and swing bits have been disposed off (by the damn wife!).

I've looked into getting a replacement.
The original Hailo costs £60-£70.
Other cheaper replacements just don't fit under the cupboard.

How can I make a swing out mechanism?
The Lid, I'm sure I'll figure out a way of making.

Youtube: I thought there would be millions of videos showing how to make.
I can't find anything.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Swing out of where?

If it's under the sink type of cupboard, just get a square/rectangular bin and attach it to the door with a batten.
Bin £3.50, batten 50p. problem solved.

:)

@mattylad The swing out opening of the lid is a must.

@KenGMac I looked the main part I need isn't there.
The part I need gives away the 'magic sauce' - you could get that part and make your own bin for a few pounds extra and not have to pay £60 - £70 for a new bin.

I just understand why there aren't any DIY bin makers on youtube showing how to make one!

@mattlad We went to Ikea and picked up a rectangular bin - it's OK, I take it back, it will do the job and it's the right dimensions.
You mentioned fixing a batten? Can you show me what you mean? Worried a little how to screw the bin onto the door without screwing through the door itself.

The screwfix bin... the cheaper one is OK and I would go for - but I suspect will hit the pipes. So no good.

Thanks.

Just buy screws which are a smidgen shorter than the thickness of the panel, or if they are too long - grind the tips down.

Make up a cardboard box template to check the fit.

We have one similar. It is rectangular, fixes to cupboard door and the lid fixes to the cupboard. As you open the door, the lid rises up to clear the bin. Inside the bin, is an inner bin, which takes a plast bag liner.
