I have one of the above set up with remote access (using DDNS and port forwarding for Web, HTTPS, RTSP and Server Ports). I can remotely view and manage my system through a web browser when I use the HTTP protocol and associated port number e.g. http://MySystem:8080. I am concerned that any video streamed over the WAN in this instance is not encrypted. Is this the case?

I would prefer using HTTPS for this reason but the following does not work: https://MySystem:443. I am using port 443 for the Port Forwarding rule.

Can someone please advise where I may be going wrong and if the above seems logical. Thanks in advance.

you can use the encryption with the verification code, once used in the NVR/DVR, you will need to use the same code in the web browser to unencrypt the video.

That said if you know where to look in the web browser you can copy and paste the verification code so a little pointless?

I had understood that unless the traffic is sent over HTTPS, it is not encrypted - whilst being transferred.

What is the role of the HTTPS protocol? It’s in the low of ports.
