Let me see if I understand his reasons for leaving the Tories correctly. He left because under the conservative's leadership, the UK signed the Maastricht Treaty. A treaty that was rejected by Denmark, France and Ireland first time around and combined with subsequent expansion and control treaties, set the EU on a cascading path to growth and centralised power.

He left the Tories in the early 1990's at his protests at the signing of the Maastricht Treaty, which kind of created the EU.
After failing in his attempt to become an MP, he became an MEP in 1999.
So he left a political party to become an independent MP. And when that failed ho joined the very government that he so detested.
Or was it just to return as a politician? Any politiican would do.
If he had his wish to leaqve the EU back in the earlty 1990's he wouldn't have been able to become an MEP.
Smacks of any port in a storm, to me.
Continuity of failure?I think we all know why Nige became an MEP.

Regarded as a grifter who helped inflict the greatest damage to this country since WW2Yet, regarded as one of the most influential politicians of modern times.
He wrecked this countryWho had enough clout to make the conservatives commit to a referendum on EU membership in order to win the election. This subsequently resulted in us leaving the EU. He may be a mouth breather that spouts a lot of nonsense, but he certainly had power and was hugely influential. He's reasonably wealthy too. Rumour has it most recently boosted by a settlement with NatWest.
Yes he was an MEP for 20 years and received a large salaryYup - bloke's a genius
