Humming hot water pipes

Just wondering if anyone has experienced similar problems?? I have a potterton suprima 40 boiler and when the hot water tap is opened , after about a few seconds there is a hum in the pipework and when the tap is turned off it remains for a few more seconds.The only way i have managed to stop the hum when the hot is running is to turn on the cold.???Is this something that i can sort out myself or do i need to call in the pros. don't know if it is related but had a 3 port v/v fitted ( heating, heating/water,water) recently by british gas.

Any help would be most welcome.

checked the ball valve in the header tank ?

Bought & fitted v/v for header tank ( £5 ) and all quiet.Thanks for the help.
