Trials with Hydrogen added to natural gas ( 20% Hydrogen 80% Natural gas ) seem to be successful.
hydrogen may be the gas of the future.
obviously not keeping up with all the articles being written and the testing of mixing hydrogen with nat gas in areas of the country and the entire campus being run on hydrogen /nat gas at keele university as a test bed .Pigs might fly
One thing, my mate has a combi boiler in his loft and it takes an exceptional time for hot water to get to his kitchen tap. So much so they either wash up with cold water or boil a kettle. That, in my mind, is a good reason not to have a combi in the loft.
Probably is but he fitted it himself about 20 years ago and has said he will replace it himself when it needs it. He’s not a gas fitter!I thought there was some water regulation about wasted water before the hot gets through to taps?

"More than 650 homes in a small village near Newcastle will this year become the first on the UK’s public gas grid to be heated partially by hydrogen, as energy companies test ways to slash emissions from one of the most polluting parts of the economy.
Up to 20 per cent hydrogen will be blended into the natural gas network that serves the village of Winlaton in Gateshead towards the end of the first quarter of 2021. It will mark a key milestone in tests to see if hydrogen — which does not emit carbon dioxide when burnt — could help reduce the climate impact of buildings in the UK, which were last year the third biggest emitters of greenhouse gas emissions, behind industry and surface transport.
Currently about 85 per cent of homes and 63 per cent of public and commercial properties are heated with polluting natural gas."
non methane injection blending has been happening for many years, if we import Nat gas from the soviet union the CV is sometimes lower than UK appliances can handle so other gasses are added to bring the CV within range nothing new there , but very expensive, and using Hydrogen will be even more expensiveGoogle HyDeploy

Absolutely keeping up. Still don't think it's a viable solutionobviously not keeping up with all the articles being written and the testing of mixing hydrogen with nat gas in areas of the country and the entire campus being run on hydrogen /nat gas at keele university as a test bed .
Also new builds that will have a gas infra structure but not connected to grid until the hydrogen is up and running
why ?Absolutely keeping up. Still don't think it's a viable solution
