I tried geofencing with Nest Gen 3, and it was a failure, as it takes too long for the house to heat up, and there is no option to set distance, only option is to set the Eco and Comfort temperature. I stopped using geofencing when the EE mast went down in high winds, and I had not realised the wall thermostat had defaulted to Eco mode, as each time I walked near it, the PIR picked up my movement and put it in comfort mode, only for it to return to eco a little latter, realised the problem when I looked at the temperature using the PC. So the geofencing was ditched.
I found other problems with Nest, the hall cooled too slowly, and wires go to hall, and it will not link in a meaning full way with the MiHome Energenie TRV heads, so I now have a Wiser wall thermostat in the living room, and the two hubs are connected in parallel so either can call for heat. Not yet fitted Wiser TRV heads, and the Wiser does not do the DHW, so will need some Wiser TRV heads first before turning the Nest temperature down, but not sure if worth setting up the geofencing, or is it a waste of time an effort?
Has anyone tried setting up IFTTT geofencing, and does it now cost?
