Ikon-t boiler & wiring of new digital timer/thermostat

Seems you have worked out there should be as supplied a link between the two TA terminals or some cable out of them with a link where cable terminates.

Clearly these would go to the volt free connections on the time switch/thermostat. With an independent supply to power the time switch/thermostat.

These boilers often don't have a thermostat but use the thermostatic radiator valves to control temperature.

I have had problems in the past where the boilers don't run 24/7 because of the lock shield valves not being set correctly.

But should be easy now.

The answer is on page 19 of the manual.

The two wires should be connected to terminals 1 and 4 of the thermostat.

You will also need to connect 240V L and N Plus Earth independent of the above.

A room thermostat is required to be fitted to all UK boiler installations.

If all rads have TRVs ( as now also required! ) then an auto bypass valve ( ABV ) is needed.

The ABV ensures that a flow continues throught the boiler. If this does not happen then the boiler temperature control may not work and it could overheat!
