I'm not selling anything!

I had a guy knock at the door the other evening (despite having a large sticker on the door saying 'No door-to-door salesmen). The first words out of his mouth were: ''I'm not selling anything''.

He said he just wanted to show me some pictures of double glazed windows and doors. So, I had a quick look at the pics and said ''Thanks. They're really nice'' and then shut the door on him.

You know what, I had exactly the same last week! "I'm not trying to sell you anything, obviously you've got your double glazing but its looking quite old, and I just wondered if I could quote you for new energy efficient windows"

HTF ISNT HE TRYING TO SELL ME SOMETHING???

I told him it was my mum and dads house and they arent in. (Might continue to use that excuse when I move out in a few weeks, until im 30 )



There were 4 charity people out yesterday, all university-types, knocking on doors, the childrens charity i think. I saw them in time though and didnt answer. Later on I passed them walking back to their car as I was going to the chippy. Thought they might stop me in the street

I've found that the best reply is, " That's Good, now f*ck off"!

Send him a letter to say he's no longer welcome as a BT customer? Then bombard him with sales calls in future, trying to persuade him to come back, by unsuspecting sales staff

It`s always children ...with something.

I`m going to ask them what % actually goes to a child that needs help after they have been paid - and the rest of the "admin" costs taken out . Let some reply here

This is a good ploy, but I have a better one, or two.

First, when I get accosted in a supermarket by a salesperson, I apologise and tell them I'm a tenant.

(I'm not, we own our house outright, but I don't tell them that!)

Second, if I'm at home in my work gear I tell them it's not my house, I'm just working here for the customers who are out....

I just say,
"Not interested."

and shut the door or put the phone by the TV for 5 mins, if they are still there I leave it till they give up or I want to make a call. If they are still there I just let out a loud yell at the top of my voice!

I've told one sales guy who came to the door that I wasn't the owner, that they were away on holiday for 2 weeks and that I was just robbing the place.. He said he'd come back in later when the owners were back.. didn't bat an eyelid..

there is a youtube of someone who was called and made out like he was a homicide detective and that the owner had been killed.. made the guy stay on the phone and give all his details and asked him how long he had known the victim, were they ever lovers and when was the last time he saw him etc.. scared the crap out of the telesales person..
