They were what was being quoted during the fors and against leaving the eu.
Some of our politicians were talking about trade deals but giving their competence to negotiate their way out of a paper bag nobody really took them seriously.

100% correct, if you are part of the in crowd(euphemism for the estabishment) you can fiddle, start illegal wars and generally have a good time.
They scratch each others backs and cover up when one of their own gets into trouble.

That is why the likes of Tony Blair are treated like a statesmen rather than common war criminals.

Britain today, has unfortunately been infected with the political virus of "European values".
It’s odd how you don’t seem to consider Putin a common criminal, in fact not a criminal at all in your eyes

Name them p!ease
We have some but have complicated dealings with our main trading partner. A couple, Oz and NZ could turn out to be detrimental to our own producers.

Going on Brexit cant one of the ideas behind trade deals is to import directly from counties that attract EU tariffs to avoid them. Comment from Boris - now lets see if we can bring the cost of living down. A recorded comment from Smog 4.5% tariff on children's shoes - disgusting. ;) The odd thing is that on a tricky one, chicken, they said there would be a tariff if not produced to UK standards which are likely to be rather similar to the EU's regarding a chickens living standards. LOL Or will they be.? Oz and NZ beef and lamb?

As far as I know the EU doesn't apply tariffs to exports so how does being out help with boosting our economy. Fact is any EU investment here is likely to disappear over time as it will be simpler to produce elsewhere.

The EU benefits from being one of the most open economies in the world, as around 70 % of its imports enter the EU at zero tariff.

It doesn't seem to be easy to get import tariffs for all countries. Best I can find gives mean levels but some sectors might be more heavily protected

Blair actually ran a surplus in his first term in office with debt and deficit lowering.
Correct. They were on best behaviour and were basically the tories for that first term. Personally, I thought they were doing really well. Then they got re-elected and Gordon switched from "proooodence" to some bull about some ambiguous undefined "cycle" or other, claiming he was borrowing now but it would all be paid back after he'd gone for a bike ride or something that nobody ever understood. None of it was paid back, ever, and bucket loads more were borrowed every year on from there.

So yes, 2001 was actually the year that the country set off on its irreversible path to becoming trashed by the labour party's discovery of borrow-to-bribe.

So nobody big, ran to do these deals ?

I'm not actually surprised, and you pretend you aren't either. But we were promised there would be plenty and quick too. I'm just surprised that you expected USA to do a deal quickly.

...Carried on exactly the same. Because they don't have a choice. A point I've made repeatedly.

Sadly some here seem to think that criticising one half of the politics mob implies thinking the other half are perfect. Definitely not, this sort of comment is idiotic football match chanting, not intelligent debate.

A sudden change, maybe, maybe not.

But they have had plenty of time for gradual change.

I wouldn't be blaming it on Labour per se

Memories not what it was old chap can you point me in the direction where I said that.
Maybe I misunderstood your meaning.

But we were warned before Brexit that we would be at the back of the queue. They have had 2 presidents since then, and you mentioned Biden had backheeled us.
