imitation electric fire place

My kids decided to climb on and pull over my gas fire, i have had it removed as we never used it. I have covered the back piece and the hole in the chimney breast after painting some wood the same colour as the rest of the fire place.

I'm going to rip the whole thing out next year, but until then I need a fake fire if you know what I mean, something tofasten to the fire place.

Does such a thing exist, I suggested painting flames on it but the missus ain't that keen

Photograph your old one and stick that on or I'm sure if you cruise a few boot sales you'll find what you want.

ask around at some local fire and suite shops for some ex display cases. They usually use them for displays and have no fittings.

You can get secondhand old flat screen tellys quite cheap. Screw it to the wall and play a 'fireplace' DVD.

You can also get 'aquarium' DVD for summer use.

I know someone that has a LCD TV, surrounded by an electric fire, or cold blower....what a waste of money! As a fire. Installed in chimney breast?
