Impact drills - which one?

big-all, not sure if the photo shows the screwhead closely enough, but there are the 4 large grooves, with a smaller groove inbetween each one, so a total of 8 grooves.

Does this mean its a pozi screw, or a phillips?

if the screwdriver bit is loose its the wrong size

If you have nuts and bolts to remove then surely you'll need an impact wrench....so you can fit sockets on to!

you can fit sockets on an impact driver, you cant fit any other bits on a impact wrench though!

thats the case with most - but not with the durofix it has a 1/2" drive with 3/8" and screwdriver bit adaptors.
comparison with others -
makita 18v - 145nm
boach 18v - 160nm
durofix - 190nm !!!

so if you want impact wrench plus impact driver , with lots of power , not too expensive with lithium batts and small and light - then the durofix is the one

Not sure if its the exactly right.

The screws will be rusted solid, so you put the right bit in, line it up, smack it with a hammer. I then turns only a 1/4 turn. breaks the rust grip then you should be good with any type of driver.

I would have thought you would round the head off using anything electric, until the screws are loose.

You can also get some freeze spray which is handy. Spray the bolt, it shrinks the metal and breaks the rust grip.

Its a land rover defender so the bodywork will be aluminium, hit it that hard and you'll push the hinge through the body

**Update**

The good news,

A mate called round with a decent quality screwdriver that had a hexagonal nut at the base of the shaft. After spraying with WD40 he put a ring spanner on the screwdriver nut for extra leverage and managed to loosen them.

The bad news,

I was looking forward to buying a new power tool so I still feel the need to buy an impact driver. Im sure I will come up against a diy job that needs one in the future, and the Durofix does look good.
