Hi, my 7 year old Indesit IC35FAA integrated fridge freezer just stopped working. Checked the power supply and fuse, deemed OK.
Anything else I can check or any recommendations for the repair job please?
I am in Basildon, Essex.
Thanks.

What did you use to check the fuse and supply? Use an extension lead and plug it into a different socket temporarily.

you should take a photo of the relay to help me wire mine ;)

haha

jokes apart, I am trying to fix mine, almost exactly the same model. (mine's hotpoint)

hopefully one of the following 3 is gone:
relay
capacitor
thermostat

all 3 are easy to fix, I am terrible at DIY and I was able to fix mine.

happy to answer any questions you might have. (a few days ago I knew nothing about this failure but I have spent a lot of time fixing mine in the last week so happy to help)

Nice to know that you managed to fix yours.

You are a gem of a person. I am sending you a DM. If I can fix with your help, I will post a summary on here.
Many thanks.

You would first check if power is reaching to the relay. If it is then proceed to checking the relay itself.

So I've checked the power source and fuse, they are both fine.
Do I start with relay next as others have pointed? Can you please share the location of the relay? Is it inside the black plastic enclosure with 2 white and 1 black cable?
The small white cylinder with black cable on top is capacitor?

got the same message!
Hi,

If you look at your privacy settings, the setting for 'Start conversations with you' is set to only allow private messages from 'people you follow'.

If you change this to 'members only', then other users can private message you.

Just fixed mine.

Hi, finally taken the plunge to test the relay at the back of fridge.
Please refer to the attached pics. There is power on the earth as well as exposed metallic parts of chassis!!
However, the live and neutral cables to the capacitor seem to be live.
Does that imply that the relay is gone?
Any basic tutorial on the actual desired behaviour would be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

Use an extension lead and plug it into a different socket temporarily.

Many/most/all fridge, freezer instructions do claim that they will not work properly, if used via an extension. Maybe volts drop, on startup, if using a particularly small c/s extension?
