Many/most/all fridge, freezer instructions do claim that they will not work properly, if used via an extension. Maybe volts drop, on startup, if using a particularly small c/s extension?
I don't think using an extension lead would result in enough of a volt drop to prevent the appliance firing up at all, he would have at least had an indication of whether it was a supply problem or not. I perhaps should have said plug the extension lead into another known to be working socket. His last post does not inspire confidence in the way he is testing.
