Can anyone help? Replaced hot water indirect cylinder which was leaking with the same size cylinder. Radiators are fine but can only get hot water if immersion is on. Spent some time looking for an airlock and checking for dirt in system but no luck. Didn't realise we had to specify that we have a gravity system when we ordered the cylinder. Before we remove and replace with a cylinder for a gravity system is there anything else we should be aware of? The boiler is from a multi-fuel stove.

Pip, did you check to see if the cylinder coil feed and return pipes were both hot? It sounds like there may be an issue with the feed from your multifuel stove, air lock possibly.
If they don't heat up I'd get your chap back to rectify as he should have made sure both heat sources were working ok as part of commissioning the cylinder TBH.

You need a cylinder with a gravity coil, and don't use the stove in the meantime as there is a risk it could boil the water in its boiler. If that happens you'll have a lot more than just replacing a cylinder to worry about...

Do you have your heating on? What happens if there is a powercut?

True. Never thought of that. Heating and fire are staying off until next cylinder goes in. Glad it's not the middle of winter. The nearest plumber is 20 miles away so have to wait in line. Thanks for comments.
