Ingenious idea to stop shower pump draining expansion pipe

If what chris suggested doesent work, what about inserting a small impeller pump in the cold water feed to the cylinder?...it would be wired up to come on at the same time as the shower pump, and feed water into the cylinder, keep pressure up slightly, just enough to stop the expansion pipe draining, but not so high as to eject water up the expansion pipe?

Remember that the level in the CW feed cistern and its vent pipe are the same. If you add anything to the height of the latter it'll pump over. SO you'd have to balance the two pumps' effects!

Maybe if you made a huge loop up and over the cistern with the vent pipe...!

I suggest you phone ST and Salamander and ask for their advice.
