Hello there, I am installing six Downlights in my kitchen and would like to wire them up in daisy chain. Can I use 0.75mm2 two core wire for thIs operation. There are only two terminals on each downlight which I assume are Live and Neutral
If they are fed from an ELV power supply you may be ok but if they are mains operated you may need an earth wire to them. What do the instructions say.
The instructions say " live supply to the brown input cable and neutral supply to the blue input cable. Terminate your earth and loop cables as necessary." There are 3 cables out of the ceiling, BLACK, RED and EARTH
So the answer to your original question seems to be NO, you need a 3 core cable to be able to earth the fittings. Your black cable should be neutral, the red will be live & the earth wire would normally be green or green/yellow sleeved.
There are 3 wires coming out of the ceiling, red, black and earth. From the ceiling pendant there is 2 wires, brown and blue into the bulb socket. These are the 2 wires I was planning on using to go into the first downlight as there is only 2 terminals on the downlight and no earth terminal. Is this connection correct
