Is a 2.7 metre glass balustrade in one piece possible?

I have removed a wall between a room and back staircase, and now need a balustrade. For maximum light to the narrow staircase I want a glass balustrade.

Anyone know if 2.7m is possible with one length of glass, and if so what thickness? I suppose if not, 2 x 1.35m should be possible.

Also, can anyone recommend a supplier?

I bought a couple of bits of laminated glass for a display at work that were 3m x 800mm and 3m x 2m. Spoke to pilkington for some technical info then bought it from their local supplier. Cheaper than I was expecting, too. It needed to be framed around all the edges, though. Not quite what you are doing but might help
