Is a painter supposed to decorate?

Hello,

I probably noticed an issue in my plan, after I’ve seen a few jobs done, I noticed that painters don’t care about any sort of decoration, I mean, they don’t even care if they’ve made the edges look like a disaster, same as the skirting board or any other edge.

So, is a painter supposed to leave all that job to the decorator in UK?

On top of “edges”, what a decorator does exactly?
Wood work with stitches or panels?
Heater?
Door and window handlers?
Doors?
Top edges with wood or plastic? (the ones that you apply with nails between the ceiling and wall)

A decorator will decorate - usually paint woodwork/walls/smirting/architraves, ceilings etc. and hang wallpaper. I don’t understand the rest of your question.

I’m not sure which part you didn’t understand, but one thing that is really not clear to me is if they apply this kind of wooden or plastic boards between the ceiling and wall, plus the standard wooden frames on the walls.

My intention is to mostly attach partial panels, like the one in grey I posted, I guess I could do it but I miss some tools, and the standard colors are usually not suited for my paint.

A decorator does preparation, filling, sanding, painting and wallpapering.

A good decorator should be able to do all that. Tell them what you want, ask if they can do it and get a price. Do that with several decorators.
