Is flex cable required in this case?

Circuits supplying luminaries were mandated to have RCD protection a couple of amendments ago
Funny this should come up.

Am i right in saying that my Consumer Unit does not have RCD protection on the lighting circuits?

Correct it doesn’t but those MCBs could be swapped for a RCBO’s so the circuit has got RCD protection

So, i should swap the two lighting MCB's for RCBO's

And i can leave the other MCB's because they are RCD protected?

My logic was that when a tungsten filament lamp fails it often trips a RCBO or RCD

Some incandescent bulbs (especially spots) used to trip MCBs due to a brief surge.

But not RCDs.

If your RCBOs tripped it would be the overload tripping the MCB in it.
