I'm in France at my son's house. I hear the gas boiler fire up every few minutes for a short time, then shut down..... this is weird to me, so I take some stats.
Its a Mira C condensing combi boiler, installed ten years ago, does its job fine. No interventions in the two years he's owned the house.
It fires up every 2.5-3.0 minutes, and runs for 35-38 seconds. It does this 24/7. The heating is turned off (33c outside yesterday) and no taps are calling for hot water. Boiler pressure is at 1.7 bar. The HW temp indicator on the boiler says it is turning on at 64c, and off at 77c. Its operating in summer mode, whatever that is.
Last night, with everyone in the house asleep, and zero demand, the meter says we used .48 of a Cubic Metre in 10 hours. If you do the maths, this comes to about 700 euros a year, apart from anything else.
Am I missing something simple here?
