Is there really a pension crisis?

It is indeed a problem, the cake is only so big. Mind you, if I was 65, I think I would prefer to be 25 and in debt!

What sort of money would a young couple need to be on to pay a mortgage, maybe have kids,(we do need them!) and also pay for lifes essentials and some pleasures.

They are then told by a Gov paid advisor that they must save around £4500 each for their retirement. This same advisor (no doubt on a Gov pension) says nothing (to my knowledge) about the escalating cost of the public sector pensions, these people must be really out of touch, or think we are.

It appears the Gov are getting the answers they wanted and paid for.

One day the Gov, any colour, will have to confront these issues, it is no good blaming those least able to do anything about it all.

Simple .. how many 'theme pubs' are there in your city / town ? Soon to have casinos' too ... Watch the crime spiral again .. have we not been here before ? What were the credentials of the MP's and Peers vetting the gambling bill ? Allegedly 14 of the 16 have links with the betting industry !! their only concern with our youngsters will be to relieve them of their dosh asap (and ours if we are daft enough to let them !!)

Oh yes and the upper house are getting a 20% Hike .. could be on near £290 per day just for clocking on and bu99ering off !! Or falling asleep .... Where is that honour of serving at the highest levels ? For those already pretty damn wealthy ?

Bearing in mind the majority in the upper house appear to be pensioners.Would you think they get a Gov pension plus state pension and a salary/allowance?

Just curious, anybody know?

Yes, if they had been a Govn servant - MP, civil servant etc. - I do not see why not ... receive earned pension at fifty plus years age then back on the old gravy train.

Same as a nurse .. retire on full pension at 55 ... then work as 'bank' nurse .... back-up to normal staff rather than 'agency' nurses.
Or take full time job elsewhere in another employment.

Remember the - was it - Ford women employees ? Those who fought to be allowed to retire at 65 ... mmm .. Now it is coming to all Women slowly.

Looks like old Tone is playing a good game .. allegedly taken out big mortgage on home in constituency .... apparently the tax payer, due to commons rules - must fund the interest payments !! I bet that ain't in the true spirit of the rules ... but lawful I am sure ... not a moral thing - amoral then !!

I've got no "interest" at all in paying his payments :)

If only you / we had a choice !! Even I a poor pensioner am paying tax .. probably more than some large companies !!
