Hello,

Have moved into a house recently and have this sarking board in the attic. Not very knowledgeable in this area so would appreciate some opinions, does this look like asbestos to anyone? Excuse the cobwebs! TIA

you mean the brown fibreboard? No, it's a wood product

But strangely droopy

Are you in Scotland?

How old is the house?

Thanks for taking time to reply. Yes droopy potentially due to previous leak in the roof. In Scotland. Just wanting an opinion on asbestos before start any work.

if it was still damp, it might straighten if you tacked battens under it, to the timbers at each side, to lift it flat. It will tend to hold its shape once dry.

p.s. sarking boards are normal in Scotland, but rare in England. IMO it makes a superior roof.

It was commonly used in Scotland. Having removed them 100s of times and my dad having fitted them originally I can confirm it is.
Celotex? As in PIR insulation or am I off the mark here? Did Celotex make that sarking?

It was a board made by celotex, it wasn't insulation. Same size as an osb board but they shrink over time and sag badly.

How easy is it to remove these? Might be a daft question but i have recently moved in somewhere that these celotex boards are sagging severely and there is a lot of condensation in the loft space

If the roof is off it comes off no problem. If you just want to patch it to hold it up you can use wood to hold it up, just cut it and secure it in between the trusses.
