Put a filter on the snorkel out let / inlet

If the objective is to stop you spluttering over someone while infected unknowingly, then the "design" that US guy came up with, takes 10 seconds to make

Viruses are tiny, thousands of times smaller than bacteria, which is itself thousands of times smaller than saw dust or similar. So that blows out the water any justification for the wearer trying to protect themselves from direct inhalation using one of these masks. One possible valid justification is to protect others around you - from exposure to droplets that you yourself are producing. In which case a valved mask is no use whatsoever either as the point of the valve is to open on exhalation to prevent your LEP/glasses frosting up, plus minimise the water vapour burden of the filtration material so it continues to properly filter incoming breath.

If your aim is to protect yourself, you need a visor type mask and regularly wash hands with soap at a sink for 20 seconds, or if on the move 60%+ alcohol. In this instance, your use of a visor, unless you already own it, is denying someone who needs it for their protection carry out ESSENTIAL work

If your aim is to protect others, and because you're taking the conservative (small c) view that you're asymptomatic but might carry it... don't bother with a valved mask, a wet rag is more appropriate as it will absorb outgoing moisture droplets... the disposable cloth above would fit the bill nicely.

Those who are tested positive to the virus should have to wear masks in public

I have a WW 2 gas mask still. In its box

They were issued to the public afaik

There was a bloke wandering around in the cheese section of Asda the other day with what looked like a WW2 gas mask on. Slightly surreal. Also I felt a bit suspicious going into my local bank to take out a largeish amount of money with a mask on. Left the sawn-off at home though.
