Anyone remember the Shabra and Shatilla massacre?

The Sabra and Shatila massacre refers to the 1982 killings of between 460 and 3,500 civilians—mostly Palestinians and Lebanese Shias—in the city of Beirut during the Lebanese Civil War. It was perpetrated by the Lebanese Forces, one of the main Christian militias in Lebanon, under the command of Lebanese politician Elie Hobeika. The killings were carried out in Beirut's Sabra neighbourhood and in the adjacent Shatila refugee camp. Two days earlier, on 14 September, Lebanese politician Bachir Gemayel had been assassinated, prompting the Phalangists to call for a revenge attack.[4]

From approximately 18:00 on 16 September to 08:00 on 18 September, the Lebanese Forces carried out the massacre while the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) had the Palestinian camp surrounded.[5][6][7][8] The IDF had ordered the militia to clear out the fighters of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) from Sabra and Shatila as part of a larger Israeli maneuver into western Beirut. As the massacre unfolded, the IDF received reports of atrocities being committed, but did not take any action to stop it.[9]

This cycle of violence just continues.

From the article Filly quoted.

Oh the irony. Again.

I don't think he was. The hard stance against Iran (despite EU & UK opposition), the Abraham accords, normalising Israel relations with Arab countries, a proposed 50 billion dollar peace deal for Palestinians (not as good as it sounded admittedly), to add to all that, he didn't like Netanyahu and called him out for not being genuine in seeking peace.

The Donald can be called out on lot's of scores and I'll tend to agree, but on foreign policy, he was OK.

He also agreed to Jerusalem being the capital of Israel, against the wishes of Palestinians.
It was designated as a city of duality in the League of Nations, as a sepaarte entity from the partition. Israel has since claimed the whole of it.
He inflamed that conflct.

But you're happy for Hamas to burn and behead babies.
No I'm not.
You're doing the usual, conflating criticism of one with support for the other.
I support neither, but as there is so much support for Israeli disproportinate action, and war crimes against Palestinians, someone needs to offer an alternative view.

You have declared your full support for Israel, and in doing so, you resort to dishonest accusations. That deosn't help your moral position in the discussion.

This all goes back to 1948, kick one set of people off their land to settle another set who have suffered horrors.

There is no justice in any of this.
Exactly. And persisitent arguments about who is right and who is wrong does nothing to alleviate the situation.

What is needed is a ceasefire, backed up by the international community and a real unbiased approach to long term solution.
That might require some reparation.

The White House has walked back President Joe Biden’s claim that he saw pictures of beheaded children following Hamas’s deadly attack on Israel.

The reversal came after Biden on Wednesday described seeing images of mutilated children during a meeting with Jewish leaders at the White House. Unverified claims about the beheading of Israeli children and sexual assault of hostages by the Palestinian armed group have gone viral on social media in the days following Saturday’s attack.

The claims blew up after Nicole Zedek, a reporter with Tel Aviv-based news channel i24, said during a live broadcast that she had spoken to Israeli soldiers who had witnessed decapitated babies.

In a response to questions by The Washington Post, a White House spokesperson said the president’s comments were based on news reports and claims by the Israeli government.
