They know what a TV set is but I suspect very few know what 'tele' means.

It could, but none of them was chosen to describe a radio receiver where no sight is involved so they are reasonably accurate.

My understanding was that what John Cleese said was taken out of context, he meant he felt London was no longer culturally English.

Whatever that means.

Most major cities have such a diverse range of people living and visiting that it would make sense to consider them multicultural.

Though I bet tourists visiting London think the city is very English. luvvly jubbly :ROFLMAO:
 
Indeed they are becoming multi cultural and that was his point and mine alot are changing and not for better.

My ancestors were Huguenots, that is were the word refugee is derived from.
They developed the linen business in Ireland, which is why Irish linen is world famous.
