Junction box on cooker cable?

Hi!

Just had a new cooler arrived and realised it has its own fitted cable in the back (Miele).

Pic 1 shows the new cooker
Pic 2 shows the old cooker attached to cable
Pic 3 shows cable running behind plasterboard

I am thinking all I need to do is use a junction box to connect the existing cable to the fancy cable of the new cooker. Is this correct? If so, what kind of junction box, do I need to use?

For context, I have replaced cookers before, replaced other electrical appliances in the house and built my loft conversion. So I’m sure this is very manageable with the correct advice!

Also the existing wires are thicker than those on the plug of the new oven - if using a junction box is this a problem?

You could fit a cooker outlet plate on the wall.

Thank you. It’s all tiled so that would be quite a job compared to a junction box – would a junction box work? Will it be okay as the wires on the cooker or smaller than the existing cable?

Oh sorry behind the cooker! I’m not sure I understand what you mean I’m afraid. Would I use the socket you have advised in the same way a junction box is used:

You have three holes on that socket, and so two wires of the same colour would go into each of those three holes right? How come I can’t just use a junction box, am I okay to join the different sized wires? I really appreciate your help!

Well - in that it connects wires together; yes.

You fit a back-box in the wall (looks like a plasterboard one needed) and screw the metal part of the connector to it,
fit the wires and screw the cover on.

Yes.

Because doing it properly is better.

Yes.
If you don't want to then you could buy a dual connector.
