First, thanks to all the experts for their valuable assistance.
I have a Karizma Plus intruder alarm, installed in 2000. It has 1 remote keypad, 2 external sounder/strobes and an internal horn. There are 19 vibration sensors & 3 magnetic door contacts, each with an ID biscuit, all hard wired with 4 core cable in a ring.
The system has worked OK, with occasional 'system busy' lockouts.
Recently, the keypad reported that the battery charge was low. It was 5 years old. A new battery was ordered, but the 'system busy' lockout occurred. Resetting caused a 'NVM sumcheck' which was followed by a 'RKP 01 busy' report.
Is the system salvageable? Will a NVM re-set help?
Thanks in advance to all.

Have you replaced the battery?

How have you resolved "system busy" in the past?

Do you have a contract with an company? If so call them out to resolve, this will avoid invalidating any insurance on your property.

If you DIY it, do you have access to the engineer menu?

The NVM (non volatile memory) stores the programming of the system, doing a NVM reset is likley to clear the NVM or defaulting.

From memory....

The issues you report sound like a data corruption problem this can occur due to the battery drawing excessive current "pulling" the system down.

If so replace the battery and reinitialise the system from within the engineers menu, I forget which one but the Karisma has a easy menu structure so should be easy to find.

If you do not have access to engineers you'll have to,
A) Call your regular company.
B) Default the access codes, thus allowing you into the system.

There are LIVE mains voltages within the control panel, do not attempt any work unless you are competent to do so and understand the risks.
