So Ken Clarke tells us there are some kinds of rape that are less serious than others and gets ridiculed...........but isn't he correct or am I missing something.

It's a hypothetical situation, but if you had to be raped, would you prefer it to be a friend/relative on his own, or a group of men who held you at knifepoint having broken in in the middle of the night?

If you find it hard to imagine, then imagine your wife had to be put through it, and which one you'd prefer.

All rape is serious, very serious and will leave lasting mental damage so should carry a mandatory sentence of many years. The aggravation caused up to and during the act should carry further years. Also, the perpetrator must be made to make substantial reparation.

think of it this way... there aren't types of rape that are less serious, but there are types of rape that are more serious!!

Nobody has to be raped. , rape is rape, no means no ,may it be by your husband, your granny or some strange geezer up in the back passage.

maybe we're saying the same thing....rape is rape, but rape with violence, rape with the threat of death, is different to being raped by your husband, just forcefull, no violence or threat of death, and who you know will wake up in the morning and say he loves you and become the perfect hubby again.

A bit like burglary vs aggravated burglary vs full scale hostage situation etc...

Feel free.......this is a real puzzle to me......I really don't understand those who cannot accept that there are different levels of rape that will deserve different degrees of punishment.

So would you say stabbing to death a homeless person is less a crime than stabbing to death a multi-millionaire? probably doing the homeless guy a favour so a slap on the wrist is that it?
