Can anybody reccommend a kickspace heater for a garage?
I have a unit - an old Myson, about 1.5kW - that worked just nicely to take the chill off the garage on really f-f-f-freezing days, but it didn't last long.
It worked fine if used all the time, but if used rarely (ie - off during spring/summer/autumn bar the odd day, on in winter) the fan bearings (bushings) would sieze and you'd need to strip, clean, regrease the unit. One time it evidently got left switched "on" with a siezed fan bushing, and the little indutcion motor coil in it melted itself. It now has a cheap electric heater with the elements ripped out (ie - a fan!) gaffer taped to it, 'cos it's cold out, but I'd like to replace it.
Something suitable for occasional yuse would be good. Something that is not very deep behind the wall woould be absolutely great! (width is easy, height is not too bad so long as less than 6 inches, depth is restricted by some shallow utility room units to 13" or less ideally) Cheap would be nice.
