Apparently B.O.B is correct and an asteroid was on collision with our planet but luckily for us SG1 sent it into hyperspace and it passed safely right through the earth. Phew!

I have more info from sorces and they say that this so called eclipse we had was actually the astroid which skimmed the earth and has been covered up by the press.
