Know anything about New World ovens?

My New World Series II gas oven (circa 1988) needs urgent attention.

It clicks as soon as the oven is turned on, presumably igniting the gas within. Trouble is, it continues to click all the time the oven is on, albeit not quite so rapid as it does at the beginning, and I'm not sure why.
Also the Boss is complaining that the oven appears too hot and things are burning despite being on a fairly low setting.

I'm assuming that it's a thermostat problem? Does anyone know if I'm right and if so, what needs changing to rectify it?
