"Labour has urged Boris Johnson to address claims he failed to declare a potential conflict of interest in how money was given to a US businesswoman while he was London mayor.

The Sunday Times said Jennifer Arcuri, an entrepreneur associated with Mr Johnson, joined trade missions he led and was given £126,000 in public money.

She told the paper this was part of her role as a legitimate businesswoman.

No 10 declined to comment. A government department says it is investigating."

Surely there's nothing to be concerned about? You wouldn't expect the leader of the Cons party, and our Prime Minister, to be the sort of person who has adulterous affairs, and ignores rules of behavour or proper honest practice?

Ah.

I see the problem.

Jennifer Arcuri joining Boris Johnson on his mayoral campaign in 2012. Her firm received cash from an agency for which he was responsible EUGENE METREVELI

"Boris Johnson failed to declare a series of potential conflicts of interest over a close friendship with an American model turned technology entrepreneur during his time as London mayor.

An investigation by The Sunday Times can reveal that the woman, Jennifer Arcuri, was given a total of £126,000 in public money and privileged access to three official overseas trade missions led by Johnson.

Sources have confirmed that Johnson, now 55 and prime minister, was a regular visitor to Arcuri’s top-floor flat in Shoreditch, east London.

Arcuri, who was in her late twenties at the time, described him as "one of her best

"Ex-model Jennifer Arcuri reportedly received £10,000 in business cash from an organisation Johnson was responsible for as London Mayor in 2013."

"Arcuri, who was in her 20s at the time, was also allegedly given special treatment to attend jet-set trade missions led by the future PM, according to a Sunday Times investigation.

She was reportedly given privileged access to three foreign trips in one year - despite her tech firm not meeting the eligibility criteria.

Initial decisions to turn her down for two of the trips were overturned after intervention by Johnson and his close team, it is claimed.

There is no suggestion that Arcuri was involved in any wrongdoing but she has refused to comment on her relationship with Johnson, who now lives with 31-year-old girlfriend Carrie Symonds.

'REGULARLY VISITED HER FLAT'

A leaked email seen by the Sunday Times allegedly shows Arcuri was given access to a New York trade mission after discussing it with the then-Mayor.

Sources also reportedly confirmed Johnson was a frequent visitor to Arcuri's posh top-floor flat in Shoreditch, East London."
