All weve done is replace both landing switches (1 x 2way, and 1 x intermediate) with identical switches and wired them back the same as before. But now they wont work together. Turn the light on with one, then turn the light off with the other, then trying to turn the light on again the original switch doesnt work. We cant for the life of us figure out what weve done differently! Any suggestions would stop us going mad.

since it did wok and now doesnt obvioulsy it is something you have done.

Chaeck the switches ARE indentical, especailly the intermeadiate one

other thing you could do is to put old ones back, make sure it works.

Then change ONE switch at a time

thanks for your suggestion but we have put the old switches back on. Are you suggesting that there are 2 types of intermediate switch? The BS numbers on both are the same.

We think it is the intermediate one that is causing the problems.
One blue to L1 and one yellow to L1 and the other blue to L2 and the other yellow to L2.

HELP!

try playing with the intermediate, one yellow to each L1 and one blue to each L2, i had this problem with one of my intermediate switches

read the diagram with the intermediate switch for the layout of its internal parts and now it should be connected

im not sure there is any standard for the labeling of intermediate switches

best to test the switches with a multimeter if you are unsure

its un likely that you have 2 faulty switches both intermeadiates) it is very likely something you have done

Intermediates are labelled differntly from manufacturer to manufacturer - thats your problem.

Instead of putting the cables vertically across the switch, put them horizontaly across the switch. This should cure it.

this is what we have at the moment. We have L1-blue and L1-yellow from the same cable and L2-blue and L2-yellow from the other cable.

Is anyone suggesting this is wrong, and if so, which way should we wire them?

thanks!
