Why is an RGI in a council owned property when there will be a gas service provided by the landlord ?..unless its a tenants own appliance.
Our procedure on any suspected CO events was..off to hospital for Co test..no exceptions, and meter capped until all clear produced in writing from hospital. We'd do all flue checks/combustion/air checks as well of course.
If servicing and we spotted tenants own gas cooker with serious orange flame or other combustion faults..disconnect and warning notice.
Its all about covering your own back. Don't forget, the Hospital might well issue a RIDDOR if they find something amiss, and you need to ensure your end of the stick is squeaky clean if HSE poke their nose in.
I once worked for a co. that forgot to issue a RIDDOR after a CO event, but the hospital didn't forget and CORGI were hopping mad when HSE asked them to comment on a case they had not even been notified about. Much excrement hit the rotating blades, but the co. narrowly avoided being discliplined.
As other have said..."Upgrade" the shakey old dears to electric. Many forget to turn gas taps off.
