So do I; I’m a “Dagenham” boy born & bred, later out housed to Basildon “New Town” as a kid (back then it was fantastic) & moved to Canvey to go up market & stayed there for 25 years until, much like “Sarfend”, it too degraded into the mire. It was good to live there for all those years, boat, fishing, family & all but I finally left in 2004 for the country life here & have never, ever looked back. Was glad to see the back of it tell the truth & Essex for that matter. My daughters still live there (Essex not Canvey) so am forced to go there regularly but it’s the pits now, I truly hate going back there but I have to.
