Las Malvinas

theyve never had soveriegnty. we were the first to land on them in 1690, and they were uninhabited. We then settled them. Argentina as a country did not even exist until their independence in 1816.

The Malvinas are a remnant of our imperial past. The sooner we give them back to the country that they belong to the better.

The FALKLANDS are governed by themselves and i think the people who live their have a right to decide where their alligences lay, especially seeing as they are over 1200 miles from buenos aires.

I remember something like 8,000 miles, I maybe wrong though.

Seems to me though that the Falklands are a country in their own right, so don't have to belong to anyone. However, the status quo is that they are British and AFAIK, almost everyone who lives there want it to stay that way and that should be respected, regardless of who they are geographically closer to (same goes for Gibraltar) - It is more wrong, IMHO, to say that we can't be ars*d protecting a bunch of British Citizens (?) from hostile takeover by a foreign government just because they are a long way away..

If that were the only basis for 'ownership' we should go in all guns blazing to try and get the Faroes back from Denmark.

Interesting thing if there were to be another war though, is to see if the old 'special relationship' with the USA is a truly two-way street.

Then give them full independence and let them look after themselves.

I suppose you want to hang on to Gibraltar too?

If I lived in Gibraltar, I would want to be part of Spain. Imagine how much better the weather would be!

no im saying that it doesnt matter geographically where or how smewhere is sited. If the people there wish to be governed by a certain country or themselves then let them.

Let them pay their own way then. Nothing to do with us.
