This is what I was planning, would appreciate your thoughts please...
I'm putting up a summer house soon and wanted to put in on a slab base. The summerhouse is 4m x 3m, the base will be sized accordingly.
I was planning on digging down 130mm, laying 70mm of type 1, then putting the 32mm slabs on 30mm of cement, not dot and dab, but cement under the full size of the slab. The garden is on a slight slant running from back to front and from the right to left. I'll need to dig about 200mm at the highest point
First question is does this sound reasonable? Second question is, is 32mm slabs too thin for the weight of the summerhouse?
This is where I'm at so far...... It rained about 3 days before I started to dig. I'm down to my 130mm give or take, and I've dug up about a quarter of the overall area..... My soil is clay and muddy, even though the rain stopped 3 days before I started to dig. I left what I've dug out so far for 2 days to see if it dries out, if anything though it's gotten worse, 10mm puddles are now forming in some of the areas I've dug out.
What's my options (within reason)?
Would adding lime help?
Can I pile on the type 1 and hope it dries out?
Should I call it quits?
Thanks
