Leaking bathroom sink tap

Hi again.

Prised red cap off tap. Still confused. Thought there would be a grub screw of some sort to unloosen, so used Allen key that came with recent curtain pole. (Similar size grub screw?)

I’ve tried inserting but no joy twisting. It is possible there is no screw, and I just need to loosen tap itself? (After switching water off)

Buy a new tap and call a plumber.
Ask him to fit isolating valves and make the whole assembly easily accessible for future service.
Expect to pay around £100

Thought you’d suggest that. Probably will do as tap is minging as you can see. However, for my benefit, what type of connection is that inside the tap? Notwithstanding replacing tap, if I just wanted to replace cartridge, can I just twist top of tap off to expose it?

Far too much corrosion to service that tap in situ imo.
It might leak from the new cartridge and then you would be back to square one.
Do it once, do it properly is my advice.
