Hi All,
With all this rain lately I have discovered a leak in, i think, my chimney.
My bedroom has smelled funny for a week and today I finally saw the damp appear from the roofline on the chimney breast. The loft seems dry and its hard to tell if where the water is getting in.
Both outlets are covered (see photo) but the render is old and recently some new paint blew off.
It's pretty high so I am guessing I will need a scaffold and re-render the entire stack?
It may of course just be the flashing or a loose tile.
What would you recommend as the first course of action? Also anyway hazard a guess as to the cost of re-rendering the stack in the south east?
Thanks
